Find a riding partner for the day as the starting group splinters quickly. Directions will be provided at the start, but knowing the trails already is highly recommended.

weather.com is saying 73 & partly cloudy for tomorrow…PERFECT.

The season is winding down, to be sure, but we firmly believe this is the best time of the year to ride. Go ride your bike!

The Service Dept rode Lair, and mentioned it might have been the best ride of the season. So far. We’ve been getting those evening/overnight rain storms, and then the cold in the morning, and it sets the trail up for a perfect ride.

I dare you to tell me a better month of the year for riding. LOVE September.

Rained a bit yesterday afternoon/evening, so the trail was tacky. Small group, but a few of us are keeping the streak alive. Get out and ride your bike…these next 5-6 weeks are shaping up to be the best of the season.

Stupid Ride is slated for September 28. That familiar mixture of anticipation and dread…makes riding bikes that much more fun. That’s a hard ride, but it’s become a tradition around here. We dread it, but we love it. You can find the route in earlier postings on this blog, and we’ll repost it after Vegas. Keep riding this month, and join us for the Stupid Ride.

Vegas next week, always a marking point in the season. Next Thursday will be a first for the shop: actual work at Interbike. It will be meetings, meetings and more meetings. Then Friday will be beer and geeking out on bikes.

More to come…

The 7th Bi-Annual (I think I made that word up) Stupid Ride is in the books. True to form, the weather was terrible. Storm clouds loomed on Sunday morning, but a dozen hearty souls made their way down the hill, and back up to Evergreen, hitting all the front range trails in the process. Stories/opinions/brain farts vary, but roughly midway through the ride, the rain became snow and we found out quickly who brought cold weather gear. Those who didn’t went home. Those who did pushed as far as they could. In the end, three of twelve got to the summit trail junction on Bergen Peak. Well done indeed.

Unreal how the weather is consistently out of control on the Spring Stupid Ride.

Couple of things going on at the shop to note. We are now a Shimano Service Center. We are one of six in CO, one of three in the front range. This means we have all your Shimano products in stock, we handle warranty issues in-house, our mechanics have the most up-to-date training and information regarding Shimano products, etc, etc. In short, we can handle it. Whatever you need, come on in, we’ll set you up.

We’ve got all three of the new Santa Cruz models coming into the shop. The Tallboy Al, the Blur TRc, and the Highball. We’ve special ordered a couple Highballs and a Blur TRc for customers, and we’ve got some stock models coming in too. Check them out, they’re real nice.

Shop rides on Sundays are in full swing. 4:30 at a trail to be designated on Sunday. Ride locations will be posted on the blog every Sunday, and also on Twitter.

And yes, that’s the last note…we are now on Twitter: @velocolorado. Follow us for shop news, fun videos and articles that I think are funny, shop ride info, and updates on how much beer we have in the fridge. Also use it to harass us.

And oh yeah, we got a new fridge. It’s old, it’s awesome, it’s cold, and it came from Brandon. Thank you Sir!

The shop is the busiest it’s ever been. We’ve got 6 custom bike builds on the stand right now, the weather is sunny and dry (albeit windy), and opening day (MLB) is next week. Wow.

Cliche? How’s it go? Time flies when you’re having fun. Bikes are fun…try it.

Evergreen Mtn/3 sisters is drying out. That gets a lot of us excited. That trail is fun. It’s not technical, it’s the right amount of climbing, the descent is a “race track” as some of our faster friends say. It’s just freakin’ fun. And it’s a bit higher and more shaded, so it’s a good barometer for other trails getting clear.

Heard some reports of people riding Centennial Cone last week too. Don’t know those people, so need to take it w/ a grain, but it sounded like roughly 60% was clean. The top of Mayhem Gulch was snowy still, and of course the shaded parts on the back. Probably another week or so. This wind is helping…and hurting. It’s hurting the Indian Gulch fire situation in a big way today. A small amount of snow last night helped, but the fire still grew. Let’s hope those homes and people stay safe, and the fire stays south of Golden Gate Canyon road. The firefighters seem to be doing a fanastic job, per usual.

There will be more to come on this soon, but for now, here’s a fun and very rare project we’re working on. Phil Wood, limited edition, wood rims. ‘Nuff said.
